BBMP in Search for Suitable Locations to Start ‘Namma Canteen’ in Bengaluru from June 1

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials’ have started to find suitable locations to start popular Namma Canteen in the state capital as the BBMP is responsible to implement the project and maintain the canteens announced by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in his budget for 2017-18. The canteen service is limited to only Bengaluru urban and is expected to start its operations from Jaune 1, 2017. BBMP is searching good location to establish the canteens at every ward of its area limit. ISKCON will supply the food for the people at Namma Canteen.
BBMP Commissioner has ordered the joint commissioner to find suitable locations having space to accommodate 150 to 200 members at a time. A space between 200 to 500 square feet is essential to start such a canteen in the city. A meeting was held between Karnataka State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Minister UT Khader, representatives from ISKCON and BBMP officials in which UT Khader has asked the BBMP officials to design the interior of the canteen which can accommodate 150 to 200 people at a time.
Breakfast will be supplied at a cost of Rs 5 whereas lunch is available at Rs 10 for the customers at Namma Canteen. The proposed canteen will have Wifi, CCTV Camera camera facility also. Meanwhile, BBMP has announced Rs 2 lakh cash prize for creating a good interior design whereas it also announced Rs 1 lakh cash prize for creating a best logo for the canteen.
