AAP Demands Karnataka Govt to Fill Notified Vacancies Immediately

Bengaluru: Even though the PC Hoota Committee report submitted in July 2013, which itself was the result of exposure of series of scams in the Karnataka State Public Service Commission and protests by the students, activists and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the thick skinned Siddaramaiah Government and vested interests have not implemented the report, thereby doing great injustice to honest, educated Kannada youth, alleged AAP.

The Hoota Committee has clearly recommended that vacant and B grade posts should be gazette notified in January or February of each year and the appointment process should be completed soon thereafter. On the basis of this the Government had notified 465 posts but the process which was supposed to be completed within 8 months is reaching the final stages after 27 months and the Government is exhibiting its stubbornness by giving absurd reasons to justify the delay. Similarly the reasons given for delay in implementing Women’s Reservation is equally ridiculous. The vacancy of over 400 posts in Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms since 2015 has not been notified. There is no hope of any notification for the vacancies created in 2016. This is grave injustice to the educated Kannada youth and shows the irresponsible attitude of the Government.

Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns this delay of three years and the attitude of the State Government, which should have notified and completed the recruitment process as per the Hoota Commission Report and in line with the Central Public Service Commission norms.

Similarly the recommendation of 288 staff members currently working in the Lokseva Ayog, who should have been transferred to various other Departments, to curb the corruption in the Commission itself, has not been carried out in the last three years. This exposes the resolve of the Government to continue corruption in the Commission and the appointment of a tainted officer, Sham Bhat as the Chairman of the Commission is ample proof of that resolve.

It is the equivocal demand of the thousands of students who appear for KAS examinations, that the marks of the main exam and personality evaluation marks be published on the Commission’s website on the same day of the interview. AAP fully endorses their demand and urges that no further delay be caused in either notifying or in the recruitment process and total implementation of the Hoota Commission report.
