Karnataka Passes Landmark Bill to Regularise Dwelling Areas

Bengaluru: In revolutionary move, Karnataka legislative assembly passed a bill supporting to declare 58, 000 dwelling areas in Karnataka as revenue villages. Also, the people who are residing in such areas without having ownership records, now get ownership of the area and their house, according to the commandment made to Karnataka Land Reforms Act 1961 and passed in the state legislative assembly on Friday.
According to the amendment made to the act, Lambani Thanda, Vaddara Hatti, Kurubara Hatti and other dwelling areas will be treated as revenue villages and all facilities will be provided to revenue villages such as ration card, electricity and others by the state government. The landless agriculture laborers will also get land, according to the act.
