Jaipur: In a shocking incident, a customer at Hawamahal’s Cafe Coffee Day outlet got slapped and abused for complaining over cockroaches and other bugs found inside the fridge where the food was kept.
Following which, the customer raised an alarm and brought it to the notice of employees who did not pay much heed to the complaint and continued serving food from the same fridge.
Agitated over the condition, he brought the issue to the notice of other customers. Instead of apologising the employees asked him to leave the cafe while some of them even started hurling abuses at him.
The situation later forced him to record the incident in his mobile phone. However, out of nowhere one of the female employees came forth and slapped him while accusing of taking pictures of her. “Why are you taking my picture,” she said.
Local police said that no complaint was lodged in this connection so far.
Cafe Coffee Day, the chain in question, took notice of the incident and tweeted that required action will be taken.
“We have escalated the recent issue at our Jaipur outlet and are in talks with the consumers and the internal team to ascertain facts,” the CCD tweeted.
‘This incidence has been brought to our notice and is currently under thorough investigation. The lady team member referred here hails from rural Orissa and is part of the programme run by NGO Gram Tarang to uplift weaker sections of society and “girl child” specially. She underwent rigourous training on joining us to become a team member and was posted in Jaipur. As per lady team member, she had objected to her video being taken by the customer and her repeated requests were also not heard, thus invading her privacy. Till the time thorough investigation is being done, lady team member has been kept off duty.’
