Bengaluru: Following an order from the Supreme Court, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) will re-investigate the case regarding the illegal mining taking place in Bellary district.

The SIT is expected to handover its report on the case within 90 days.

A meeting between Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanatha Shetty and SIT head Charan Reddy was held on Saturday after the order was issued by the Apex Court. As per sources, the Lokayukta asked the SIT to investigate the case as instructed by the Supreme Court.

The order from the Supreme Court came in the wake of a petition submitted by RTI activist TJ Abraham on the illegal mining case. The SIT will now question former Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Dharam Singh and HD Kumaraswamy and also other senior officials.
