Five More Accused in Udupi DC, Others Murder Attempt Arrested

Udupi: Five more illegal sand miners have been arrested on Wednesday for alleged murder attempt on Udupi district deputy commissioner (DC) Priyanka Mary Francis, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shilpa Nag and others on Sunday late night at an illegal sand mining unit in Kandlur of Kundapur taluk. With this new crackdown, the total number of people arrested in the case has increased to 13.

The accused have been identified as Uttar Pradesh based Goraknath (40), Bhuthan (54), Anil (35), Saravanan Kumar (23) and Ravi (27) from Dharwad. DC and other officials were attacked by a group of people when they tried to stop illegal sand mining in Kandlur of Kundapur taluk on Sunday latenight.
