New Delhi: All red and blue beacons were today removed from all vehicles of the Election Commission days after the Union Cabinet decided to end the practice, a perceived symbol of VIP culture.
A commission spokesperson said all beacons have been removed from all poll panel vehicles.
The Union Cabinet had on Wednesday decided to do away with red beacons atop officials cars. The decision would formally come into force from May 1.
