Bengaluru Railway Police Arrest 2 Interstate Thieves with Gold Jewelry worth Rs 24 Lakh

Bengaluru: Railway police arrested two Tamil Nadu residents and took low quality 2, 300 gram gold jewelry worth Rs 24 lakh into their custody on Monday morning at Bengaluru cantonment Railway station. The two arrested identified as notorious interstate thieves, Venkatesh (50) and Pandyan (30) and booked under a police case for illegally transporting unaccounted jewelry. The police took the duo into their custody at around 05.30 AM when they were suspiciously moving with a huge luggage.The two informed the police that they brought the jewelry from Tamil Nadu to sell it in Bengaluru city market. 

The accused were selling jewelry in Bengaluru city market and other areas for the last 8 to 9 months and the police had information on their network. The railway police sources said that, the accused used to bring 14 carat gold jewelry from Tamil Nadu to handover the same in Bengaluru to jewelry merchants. The jewelry shop owners have also found cheating their customers by naming 14 carat jewelry items as 24 carat jewelry.
