Karnataka Govt Orders to Fix Rs 200 as Maximum Ticket Charge in Multiplexes; Ticket to Cost Rs 264

Bengaluru: Karnataka state government released an order on Tuesday to fix Rs 200 as maximum ticket charge at multiplexes and all cinema threatres in Karnataka. The decision came following Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s last budget speech where the chief minister signaled to fix Rs 200 as maximum fee for ticket at multiplexes and other cinema threat res. 

However, gold classes screens, Imac, 4DX cinema theaters have been excluded from the order. The government has also ordered to compulsory screen Kannada or movies in other regional languages including Tulu, Kodava and others in any one of the screen of multiplex threatres. Such movies should be screened from 01.30 PM to 07.30 PM as the duration is regarded as peak hour.  Following service tax, surcharge imposed, the audience need to pay higher than Rs 200 even if the government fixed the amount as maximum ticket charge. The ticket priced at Rs 200 is expected to be available to the audience at Rs 264 including service tax, surcharge and others.
