Mathura: The body of an unidentified person, who had been found dead, was allegedly sold to a private medical college here by policemen, prompting the authorities to order a departmental inquiry.
“It is a serious matter and needs a thorough probe. If found guilty, action would be taken against a constable posted in Kosi Kalan police station who was tasked with carrying out the last rites,” Superintendent of Police (Rural) Arun Kumar Singh said on Friday.
He said efforts were on to unearth a racket involved in illegal sale of bodies.
Mathura Chief Medical Officer R K Nayyar denied issuing any order to hand over the body to the private medical college.
