Bengaluru: Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) decided to distribute drinking water at Rs 1 per liter at all KSRTC bus stands in the state. With the new move, the passengers need not to spend huge amount of cash for pure water, said KSRTC President Gopala Poojary inaugurating value added services at satellite bus station in Bengaluru on Thursday. The special drinking water supply units will be installed at all KSRTC bus stations and the customers should deposit one rupee coin to get one liter water from the facility.

Speaking on the occasion, KSRTC Managing Director NR Umashankar said, the new facilities will be installed at 50 bus stations in the first phase. Tender process has already finished to install the new facilities at some of the stations by the end of May. In the initial stage, the units are limited to only major bus stations in Karnataka.

“As many as 8, 400 state run buses will be installed with ‘fast tag’. The tag will automatically pay the toll fee at toll gates saving the travel time”,  KSRTC Managing Director informed.
