Hill Collapse Kills 3 Children, Injures 8 Others in Kumta amid Heavy Rainfall

Kumta: Three children including a teenage girl died whereas 8 persons including women injured seriously after the hill located adjacent to a house collapsed on Sunday at Divagi village near national highway 66 (NH66) in Kumta. Bodies of the deceased, Bhavya Ambiga (13), Yathin (7) and 1.5 year old child Dhanush were found in the remains of the house during the rescue operation.
Fire fighters, locals have been trying their best to continue with their rescue operations amid continues heavy rainfall. According to the locals, the hill collapsed after some of its portions destroyed for NH 66 expansion works. A case has been registered at Kumta police station on the incident.
