Janthkal Mining Scam: HDK Approaches High Court for Anticipatory Bail

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister, Karnataka State JDS President HD Kumaraswamy (HDK) has moved to high court after a Lokayukta special court rejected his anticipatory bail petition on Tuesday in-connection with his alleged role in Janthkal Mining Scam during his tenure as chief minister.
Hearing the anticipatory bail petition submitted by HDK, Justice Gopal rejected the bail application after the advocate representing special investigation team (SIT) stated that as an influential person, HDK could destroy evidence which may turn against him if the court grants him anticipatory bail to the accused. Following the unexpected development, HDK approached the high court on Tuesday and the hearing on his application is expected to held on Thursday.
