Janthakal Mining Scam: High Court Asks SIT not to Arrest HDK Until June 20

Bengaluru: In a big relief to former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy (HDK) a single member high court bench has asked special investigation team (SIT) not to arrest HDK until June 20 for any interrogation. Hearing the bail petition filed by former chief minister Justice Rathnakala issued the order and granted interim anticipatory bail in-connection with Janthakal mining scam.
HDK moved to high court after a special court rejected his bail petition submitted in connection with the mining scam on Tuesday. Subsequently, former Karnataka minister, BJP leader Janardhana Reddy handed over the documents and other proofs to SIT alleging HDK received Rs 150 crore as bribe from Janthakal Mining company to carry out illegal mining in Bellary. Following Janardhana Reddy’s unexpected move and special court’s decision on bail application forced HDK to move high court earlier this week.
