CM Siddaramaiah takes trial run on metro ahead inauguration of new line

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rode on the Namma Metro on Thursday to ensure a smooth ride ahead of the inauguration of the first phase of the last line on Saturday.
The Chief Minister managed to clear a distance of eight kilometers in a short time while the road travel would have taken about 45 minutes.
Soon after the ride, the Chief Minister tweeted, “Happy to have inspected and ridden on soon to be launched stretch of #NammaMetro Green Line. Bengaluru welcomes Phase 1 network this Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Pradeep Singh Kharola, MD, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited said that they were getting ready to open the service to the public during the weekend. He added that they were busy with service trials.
It is said that more than two lakh people used the metro on a daily basis and the number is said to increase to about five lakh once the southern line was operational.
