Body of Martyr Jawan Reaches Home in Chikkaballapur 4 Days after Death; Public Blames Govt

Sidlaghatta: Mother of martyr Gangadhar, his relatives and general public criticized the representatives of the people and government officials after dead body of the deceased BSF Jawan, Gangadhar took four days to reach his native place, Yannagur located at Sidlaghatta in Chikkaballapur of Karnataka state. Dead body of Martyr Gangadhar was brought to his village on Saturday morning and funeral held with all state honors near his residence.
The jawan reportedly martyred on Wednesday at Darjeeling in West Bengal during a firing incident after protests for separate Gorkhaland turned violent. The body of the deceased would have reached on Thursday, however following unknown reasons, alleged negligence by the government it reached its final destination on Saturday morning. The deceased is survived by his wife Shilpa, 10 year old son, a brother and parents.
Criticizing the politicians over the issue, the mother of the deceased, Lakshmamma blamed the government before Chikkaballapur District Incharge Minister Ramalinga Reddy, former chief minister of Karnataka, sitting Lok Sabha MP Veerappa Moily and other officials. Lakshmamma asked the politicians, “why dead body of such a brave jawan took four days to reach his hometown and do the children of politicians serving the country in armed forces? If politician dies, does the government behaves like this?.” Brother of the deceased jawan, Ravikumar is also serving the country as an army jawan.
