Bengaluru Police Leave Dharwad with Empty Hands as Ravi Belagere Remains in Hospital

Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have returned from Dharwad to the state capital on Sunday following ill health of Bengaluru based senior journalist Ravi Belagere. The police arrived in the city to arrest the editor after he was sentenced to one year jail by Karnataka Legislative Assembly speaker KB Koliwad. 

Ravi Belagere, Kannada weekly tabloid ‘Hai Bangalore’ Chief Editor was punished after a legislature committee’s recommendation which was formed to inquire a complaint filed by an assembly member against publishing derogatory content in Hai Bangalore.

The police have returned to Bengaluru after obtaining necessary documents on the ill health of the editor and returned after a communication from home ministry. However, the local police personnel have been sent to SDM hospital where Ravi Belagere admitted for treatment. Senior journalist was admitted to SDM hospital on Saturday morning following some health issues. The police who arrived after his admission remained in the hospital to arrest the editor until June 25 and returned with empty hands.
