New Delhi/Bengaluru: Union government has sanctioned Rs 795 crore to Karnataka state as relief package for crop damage following weak post monsoon rains last year. A meeting presided by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday has decided to release the sum of Rs 795 crore against a request for Rs 3310 crore package by the state government.
After attending the meeting with Union Home Minister, Karnataka State Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa said, “earlier we had expectation that the centre could release at least Rs 1000 crore for drought relief works following weak post monsoon rains in the state. However, the amount sanctioned won’t fulfill the actual requirement of the state like Karnataka.”
