GST Likely to Impact Private Educational Institutions: Tanveer Sait

Bengaluru: Goods and Service Tax (GST) to be implemented by the union government from July 01, 2017 in the country may impact private educational institutions in Karnataka. However, it doesn’t impact government run educational institutions in the state, said Karnataka State Minister for Primary and Seconday Education Tanveer Sait on Thursday in the state capital.
The state government has taken steps to start English as one of the language subjects from first standard on wards starting from this year in the state. As many as 5, 400 school teachers have been trained to teach English at government schools this year, the minister said speaking on the arrangements taken by his department to start English education in all government run schools. The minister also assured that necessary legal action would be taken against some private schools who have denied admission to the children under RTE.
