Derogatory Content on MLAs: Two Editors to Appear Before Speaker KB Koliwad on July 4

Bengaluru: Karnataka state government has assured Karnataka High Court on Saturday that it won’t arrest two senior journalists after strict guidance issued by the high court hearing a writ petition filed by Bengaluru based two senior journalists. 

As per the decision taken in the high court on Saturday, editors of Kannada periodicals, ‘Hai Bangalore’ and ‘Yelahanka Voice’ will appear before Karnataka legislative assembly speaker KB Koliwad in connection with one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each announced by KB Koliwad last month for publishing derogatory content against Karnataka MLAs in their respective periodicals. 

The two journalists, Ravi Belagere Editor and Publisher Hai Bangalore and Yelahanka Voice editor Anil Raju reportedly agreed to appear before the speaker on Tuesday, July 4 to deliver their arguments, opinion and others on the issue. The government has assured the high court that the police won’t arrest the duo until Tuesday.
