Mandya: A group of BJP workers led by Srirangapatna taluk BJP unit tried to enter KRS reservoir on Thursday to register their protest against the state government for water being released to Tamil Nadu from KRS amid severe water shortage and weak rain fall activities in Cauvery basin. The BJP workers who tried to enter the dam were arrested by the police and taken away from the spot.
The police have made elaborate security arrangements near KRS dam following protests by farmers in the last 10 days for raising the outflow of water from the dam to Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the state government has justified its move and stated the outflow of water has been raised following previous Supreme Court order.
