New Delhi/Bengaluru: Supreme court has asked Central Pollution Control Board on July 7 to submit a report on pollution level in River Cauvery by 6 months. The order came after Tamil Nadu state government alleged in a petition that, River Cauvery is being polluted by Karnataka as pollutants from industries, polluted water from drainage, burning dead bodies on the river banks and others have been polluting River Cauvery which also flows in Tamil Nadu to meet India Ocean.

In its previous report Karnataka State Pollution Control Board awarded C grade to the water samples obtained from River Cauvery River in Karnataka and said the water should be treated properly before using the same for drinking purpose.

The Supreme Court has also asked both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu state governments to hold a meeting on August 01 to discuss all issues related to Cauvery water dispute.
