Panaji : The 15-day long Goa assembly session begins here from tomorrow.

The state budget that was placed during the last session will be passed during this sitting. “The monsoon session of Goa assembly will begin from tomorrow and will culminate on August 7,” Speaker Pramod Sawant told reporters today.

The Speaker’s office has already received 637 starred and 1,083 unstarred questions from the legislators, the answers of which would be tabled during the session. Sawant said 80 per cent of the total questions were received online while 20 per cent were given in hand written form.

The Governor’s speech will be discussed during the first two days, while on the third and fourth day there will be discussion on budget, said Sawant. He added that Question Hour will be held every morning. During the session there will be discussion on demands for grants of various departments.

The speaker said two-three government bills have already been received by his office while there are eight private members bills. Sawant said that this time the entire proceedings will be paperless as legislators won’t be given the question paper set instead they will have to log in through their laptop to read them.

Interestingly, the speaker’s office has not received a single question in regional languages – Konkani or Marathi during this session.
