Bengaluru: Telagana state government has requested Karnataka to release 15 TMC water from its reservoirs to Telangana immediately. In a letter to Karnataka State Minister for Water Resources, his Telangana counterpart T Sathish Rao has urged to release water from Almatti and Narayanapura water reservoirs to Telangana as the belt is facing severe water scarcity.
From June 1, 2017 onwards, Karnataka state released 2.2 TMC water from its reservoirs to Telangana in different phases.
Water is being supplied from Nagarjuna reservoir through Puttamandi Irrigation Project to the nearby areas of the reservoir. The Nagarjuna dam has a dead storage level of 500.50 feet and as of now, water level in the dam has reached to 510 feet. Therefore, Karnataka state government should release water from its reservoirs to the reservoir to prevent the region from severe water scarcity.
