Mumbai: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was today discharged from hospital, eight days after being admitted for kidney-related ailments.
The actor came out of the hospital on a wheelchair with wife Saira Banu, family friends and doctors.
Saira hugged and kissed the actor on his cheek before asking him to wave to the waiting fans.
“This was a terrible thing (his illness) which happened all of a sudden. It was like a nightmare. He is perfectly fine now. Everybody wished for his good health and God heard. He is eating and also talking slowly. God willing, he will be fine soon,” Saira told reporters outside the hospital.
The 94-year-old actor was admitted to the city-based Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra last Wednesday.
Earlier, Saira took to Twitter to thank fans and doctors for their support and well wishes.
“My gratitude to fans, friends for prayers, doctors for expert treatment, hospital staff and Sahab’s personal attendants for all the care. It is the Almighty God’s will and benevolence that I wish to acknowledge in all humility and gratitude,” she wrote on the actor’s official Twitter page.
