Bengaluru: An all party meeting held in Bengaluru on Monday to discuss Mahadayi issue failed to take any major decision even if protests by farmers to solve Mahadayi issue have completed their second anniversary recently. All party meeting was called after farmers urged the Karnataka government to decide next course of action to resolve the impasse.
Speaking after the meeting, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said, he decided to hold another all party meeting and try his best to settle the dispute through discussions with Goa state government. Meanwhile, Karnataka State BJP President BS Yeddyurappa assured that he will hold a meeting with chief minister of Goa after the by-elections scheduled for two seats in Goa on August 28 as the government can’t take any decision on the dispute as election code of conduct is in force.
Leader of opposition, state BJP senior leader, Jagadish Shettar said, tribunal is yet to decide on the issue and both states have ample opportunity to settle the dispute through dialogues and BJP try its best to settle the issue outside court.
Meanwhile, farmers’ protests for Mahadayi project have been continuing to complete 800 days and farmers urging Karnataka government to settle the issue as early as possible to save their future.
