Rift within Congress Party in Karnataka Widens After Cabinet Reshuffle

Bengaluru: Rift between Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other congress leaders including Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President G Prarameswara widened further after KPCC president skipped swearing in ceremony of newly inducted 3 ministers after a cabinet reshuffle on Friday evening.

A group of ministers reportedly dissatisfied following chief minister’s recent unilateral decisions. G Parameshwara is reportedly dissatisfied as chief minister inducted Geetha Mahadevaprasad into his council of minister eve if she is a new face in Karnataka politics. Earlier, chief minister had decided to induct influential Lingayat leader, Tiptur MLA Shadakshari into his ministry however, later he replaced him with Geetha Mahadevaprasad.

Chief Minister’s decision to replace Shadakshari created a row within the party circles, sources said.  Siddaramaiah’s unilateral decisions have hurt KPCC president and others as he neglects party leaders while taking major decisions including induction of new faces into the his ministry.

A group of Congress leaders including KPCC President, ministearial berth aspirants, Malavalli MLA Narendra Swamy, MLC Motamma, Shadakshari and others reportedly dissatisfied by the move of the chief minister. However, all discontented leaders have remained silent in the wake of next state assembly elections scheduled for early next year.
