Bengaluru/Mangaluru: Karnataka state government has decided not to stop BJP from organising Mangaluru Chalo rally followed by a state level convention of the party in Mangaluru city on September 7. In a cabinet meeting held in Bengaluru on Monday, chief minister Siddaramaiah has asked home minister Ramalinga Reddy, Dakshina Kannada District incharge minister B Ramanath Rai and others to take necessary measures to keep peace and security in the district in the wake of the rally to be organised.
Chief Minister and other ministers held detailed discussions on the rally and reportedly decided to allow BJP to hold the rally as wrong message could be passed to the people if Congress led state government tries to stop the rally directly or indirectly.
However, minister UT Khader and others urged BJP to not to include the party leaders, workers from other districts of the state as their participation in the rally could cause for unpleasant incidents in Dakshina Kannada district. As many as 10, 000 BJP workers are expected to reach Mangaluru through a bike rally from five cities of the state to attend the party convention at Nehru Maidan in the city at 11.00 AM on September 7. Earlier, chief minister reportedly instructed the police department not to allow BJP to hold the rally and tried to stop the event indirectly.
