Javadekar asks students to be ‘agents of change’

Jaipur :  Union minister Prakash Javadekar today exhorted students to be “agents of change” and contribute to the country’s development, and asserted that the government is committed to setting-up world-class institutes to reverse brain drain. Addressing a convocation ceremony of a private university here, the HRD minister said, “The government has proposed to spend Rs 20,000 crore on improving the educational standards in the country, so that our students can study here and contribute to the nation.” 

Javadekar said the Centre aims to establish 20 world- class universities in the country which will be ranked among the top 200 varsities in the world. “The government will provide scholarship of Rs 75,000 per month to the top 1,000 meritorious students,” he said. In his address to the students, Javadekar urged them to become good human being apart from gaining knowledge and skills.

Speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘New India’ campaign, he said that the prime minister believes in the power of youth and is passionate about improving the standard of education in the country.
