No Land Denotified in Shivaram Karanth Layout: Karnataka Govt

Bengaluru: Karnataka state government in a statement clarified that no land is denotified in Dr K. Shivaram Karanth Layout by it. The statement from Karnataka government came in the wake of allegations that state government has denotified land in Dr K. Shivaram Karanth Layout and violated law.  

Some media reports stated that certain allegations made by the counsel for state BJP President, former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa before the High Court of Karnataka to the effect that the present state government has denotified 1300 acres of land in Dr K. Shivaram Karanth Layout.

Registering its statement on the allegations, the state government has said, “It is categorically stated that no land has been denotified by the present Government in Dr K. Shivaram Karanth Layout. 3546 acres of land was notified in 2008 for the formation of Dr K. Shivaram Karanth Layout. The previous Government between 2008 and 2010 gave directions to Bengaluru Development Authority to exclude 257.20 acres of land from the proposed acquisition. Further, the Land Acquisition Officers of Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) during 2012-2014 excluded 446.07 acres of land from acquisition on the basis of parameters given by Supreme Court / High Court orders in the case of Arkavathi layout.”
