GST Technical Issues to be Solved by October 30: Sushil Modi

Bengaluru: Almost all technical issues related to Goods and Service Tax (GST) software will be solved by October 30, 2017 and the traders need not to wait to file their returns and tax until last date announced earlier, said Sushil Modi, head of five member group of ministers’ responsible to monitor technology related issues of GST and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar speaking after a meeting with officials of Infosys at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Saturday.
GST software is developed and being maintained by software giant Infosys. There are some technical issues in the software developed and are being solved by the technical experts of Infosys, Sushil Modi said.
He advised the traders not to wait until the last date to file the returns and tax as web portal faces technical issues as numbers of tax payers use the website just a few days before the last date.
Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Revenue Secretary, Union Ministry of Finance who was also present in the press conference said, tax payers have to file their returns, tax for the month of July on or before October 10. The government won’t extend the last date for any reason. Dr. Hasmukh Adhia also stated that, as many as 47 lakh dealers filed 3 B returns for the month of July and issues may occur as the traders wait for the last date to file their returns.
