Bhatkal Police Arrest 7 for Pelting Stone on BTMC Office

Bhatkal: Bhatkal police have arrested seven persons for allegedly pelting stones on Bhatkal Town Municipal Council (BTMC) office during a protest staged by BJP to register its protest against BTMC for its move to evict the shops functioning on BTMC land.

The arrested 7 accused have been identified as Mastappa Durgappa Naik, Rajesh Nagappa Naik, Venkataramana Naik, Shankar (42), Dayanand Madeva Devadiga and Ishwar Durgappa Naik (32).  All the accused reportedly charged under IPC sections 143, 147, 148, 427 and 149.  

All the accused reportedly arrested after a scrutiny of the videos taken during the protests organised. The protesters were also tried to attack the BTMC threatening them seriously, sources said.
