Senior Congress Leader, Former Karnataka Minister, Qamarul Islam Passes Away

Bengaluru: Senior Congress leader, sitting MLA, Qamarul Islam (69) has died following heart attack at a private hospital here in Bengaluru city during morning hours of September 18, today. He was admitted to the hospital following some health issues recently.
The body of the deceased is expected to be transported to his home town Kalburgi for last rites later today. The deceased was served as MLA for six times and was elected as a member of Lok Sabha in 1996 for a single term.
Qamarul Islam was elected as MLA from Kalburgi-North constituency in last state assembly elections held and had served as cabinet minister for Municipal Administration, Public Enterprises, Minority Development and Waqf in the present Karnataka state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from May 2013 to June 2016.
