Minor boy killed in car drag race

Bengaluru : A minor involved in a drag race with his friends was killed when his vehicle crashed into the parapet wall of a flyover on Hosur Road Expressway here, police said today.

Without divulging the name of the victim as he was a minor, police said the 17-year-old boy was behind the wheels in his car and had been racing from midnight till 3 am when the accident took place yesterday.

The victim was chasing his friend’s car, police said, adding, as the first vehicle involved in the drag race lost its control, his car hit it from behind, jumped the median and collided with a van.

The impact was so serious that the car was badly mangled killing the boy instantaneously. The driver of the van is believed to be left unhurt but made good his escape fearing police action. His other two friends sustained minor injuries.
