Shivamogga: Karnataka state BJP President BS Yeddyurappa (BSY) said he would try his best to convince his senior party leaders to field him as BJP candidate from Shikaripura state assembly constituency for the next elections scheduled for 2018.
“Voters of Shikaripura constituency have urged me to contest in the next assembly elections therefore I have decided to move according to their wish,” BSY said in a statement on Wednesday in Shivamogga. Earlier, there were reports that BSY would contest from a constituency in North Karnataka as per the direction from party high command. It is cleared from the statement from BSY that he is not willing to contest from Terdal assembly constituency as asked by the party high command earlier.
Speaking on his relation with senior RSS leader BL Santhosh, BSY clarified and said he doesn’t have any differences with him instead he would work with him to strengthen the party further in Karnataka.
