Bengaluru: Police have been successful in rescuing a youth from the deadly Blue Whale Challenge.

The Police said that they rescued the Ajay (28) who was about to jump down from the Windsor Manor Bridge on Sunday noon. The police alleged that the youth was attempting to kill self and completing the Blue Whale Challenge.

The police said that going by the marks apparently made out of injuries inflicted by himself with some sharp object on his hand, Ajay seems to have been addicted to dangerous Blue Whale Challenge game. He has been admitted into NIMHANS here.

The police were alerted by some passersby about a youth, who appeared to be disturbed, and who was seen loitering over the said bridge aimlessly for long. Police personnel were dispatched to the site but Ajay refused to be cajoled into abandoning his plans and climb down from the bridge. After applying various tactics, he was rescued with an effort lasting for 30 minutes, police said.

Ajay appeared to have lost mental balance and did not give proper replies to questions posed to him. Occasionally he also spoke by modulating his voice like that of a woman. The police who contacted his parents were given to understand that he had switched off his cellphone since the last three days.

His parents said that Ajay had come to Mysuru three years back after getting admission in a private college there for completing his MBA course. His parents are expected to reach the city by today.
