Bengaluru: In an attempt to end the sufferings of the new born babies, to supply human milk to the needy infants, the first human milk bank in Karnataka is scheduled to be inaugurated on October 10. The breast milk bank is a joint initiative of Fortis Hospital’s Fortis La Femme and Breast Milk Foundation.

The breast milk bank will be inaugurated at Fortis La Femme located on Richmond Road in Bengaluru. The new human milk bank will function akin to blood, skin, and eye banks operating in various parts of the country.

The milk will be supplied by the breast milk bank to the infants who lost their mothers and mothers who are unable to feed their babies due to various issues. The milk donated by the women will be closely examined by the staff at a microbiology lab to confirm whether milk is free from infection, poison and others.
