Bengaluru: Ten day long winter session of the Karnataka legislature will commence on November 13 at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in the border district of Belagavi, said Karnataka state Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra in Bengaluru after a cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.
The cabinet has also approved implementation of subsidised food canteens, the ‘Indira Canteens’ in all taluk and district headquarters of urban local bodies across the state from January 1. There will be 246 canteens at about 171 locations in various parts of the state, minister added. Indira Canteens are already operational across Bengaluru and provide breakfast at Rs 5 and lunch and dinner for Rs 10.
Among the other decisions taken by the cabinet include establishing a police commissionerate at Kalburgi and the Mukhyamantri Anila Bhagya scheme, meant to provide free domestic gas connections to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families that will be launched formally in December.
Speaking on the Anila Bhagya scheme, Jayachandra said BPL families who have not got connections under the central government’s Ujwala scheme will benefit. They will be provided gas connections, two burner stoves and two refills, he said.
