Bengaluru: London based Kannadiga, Shiv Kumar in a media statement said no actor from Karnataka is honoured with any award sponsored by British Government. Shiv Kumar added, the Kannada actor is invited for a private programme hosted at banquet hall in the British Parliament. The award given to the actor is a private award given at private event by a privately hosted party.

Earlier, media in Karnataka has reported that, the Kannada actor is scheduled to receive UK government sponsored award in programme organised in British parliament on October 19.

London based Kannadiga in a clarification noted, “It has been reported yesterday in the Karnataka Media that the British Government has awarded a Sandalwood Actor ‘The Global Diversity Award’ in the British Parliament. The official awards given by the British Government are MBE, OBE, Knighthood and Victoria Cross similar to Rajotsava, Padma, Padma Vibushana and Bharat Ratna awards in India.”

Firstly, The Global Diversity award is not an official award given by the British Government or British Parliament. Secondly Sandalwood actor is not a recipient of this so-called Global Diversity award either, he pointed out.

“Unlike Indian Parliament, anyone can hire a banquet hall in the British Parliament for an event. The Sandalwood actor is invited for a private event and not a public event sponsored by the British or Indian Government. The British Government or Indian Government has no role in this event. Unlike Indian Parliament or Karnataka state Legislature, the British Parliament’s Banquet halls can be hired for a private event for a fee and the host can award his/her guest with an award to please them,” he concluded.
