Swiss Couple attacked: Sushma Swaraj asks report from UP Govt

Agra: A Swiss couple was allegedly attacked by a group of men armed with sticks and stones on Sunday afternoon at Fatehpur Sikri.

The Uttar Pradesh police arrested a suspect late on Wednesday in connection with an assault on the couple.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday sought a report from Uttar Pradesh government on alleged attack.

The male victim was left with a fractured skull and nerve damage, and the woman broken bones in the attack that brings into focus security fears for foreign tourists.

Pradeep Kumar, the in-charge of Fatehpur Sikri police station, said the couple was walking alongside a train track when locals assaulted them.

After the attack, the victims were taken to a local health centre before being shifted to Delhi for treatment.
