Journey to Attend Marriage Function Ends in Tragic Road Accident after 13 Lost Lives in Maddur

Maddur: In a tragic road accident 13 people died while 20 other survived with injuries when a tempo lost its control and collided with a tree on roadside at Thor Shettihalli village in Maddur taluk of Mandya district on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified Beeramma (51), Madamma (63), Parvathamma (48), Jayamma (46), Sannamma (60), Renukamma (40), Meenakshi (37), Shivanna (45), Sonu (5), Pooja and three others. All deceased were the residents Avasaradshalli village of Maddur taluk.
The tempo carrying as many as 50 passengers was on its way to a marriage function of a bride from Avasaradahalli of Maddur and Kunigal taluk based groom. The tempo was to reach a marriage hall in Maddur town as scheduled. Younger sister of the bride, Pooja was reportedly lost her life in the accident.
The incident reportedly occurred when the driver of the tempo tried to overtake a vehicle which caused for the tragic accident. All injured have been admitted to various private hospitals in Maddur and Mandya towns for treatment. A case stands registered at Kesthur police station of Maddur taluk on the incident.
