MES’s Call for Black Day on Nov 1 Gets Poor Response in Belagavi

Belagavi: A call by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) to observe November 1, Kannada Rajyotsava as Black Day has been foiled on Wednesday following poor response from the public. As an every year process, this year also MES urged the people to observe November 1 as Black Day when Kannada Rajyotsava is being observed. However, differences between various Marathi outfits and poor reponse from the public have foiled and no affect has been made on the routine life of the people.

Earlier, Belagavi police had granted their permission to MES to observe black day under strict conditions. The three fractions of MES led by MLA Sambhaji Patil, Kiran Talur and Manohara Kinekar organised separate rallies which caused for very poor response Marathis residing in Belagavi.

Meanwhile, Kannada outfits have criticized Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Sanjyota Sunil Bandekar’s move who participated in the black day. Some of the members of Zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat have raised their voice against Kannada Rajyotsava while observing the black day.
