Bengaluru: Karnataka state government has decided to continue with The Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) (KPME Bill) Bill 2017 amid protests by private doctors and paramedic  staff which partially stalled the routine activities of private clinics and hospitals in the state.

Speaking on the issue, Karnataka State Health Minister KR Ramesh Kumar said, all allegations raised by the doctors and paramedic staff are baseless and state government doesn’t have any intension to harm the doctors in the state by making amendment to the previous act. The minister has also stated that all efforts have been made to protect the rights of the doctors in the bill.

Meanwhile, the private doctors have decided to hold Belagavi Chalo rally on November 13 to register their anger against state government’s proposed bill.  The government has planned to table the KPME Bill 2017 in the winter session of state legislature scheduled to begin in Suvarna Soudha of Belagavi.
