Karnataka Govt Holds Meeting With Private Doctors as Medical Services Stall

Belagavi: As many as 8, 000 private hospitals including clinics in Karnataka have remained shut today, November 13 to register their protests against proposed Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2017 which is expected to be tabled in the winter session of state legislature being held at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha in Belagavi.
Private doctors and paramedic staff led by state unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) shut all private clinics and hospitals and held protest march Belagavi Chalo rally. The doctors held protests before Suvarna Vidhana Soudha as part of the protest programmes scheduled earlier.
Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has called a meeting with the members of IMA to resolve all issues related to amendment bill on Monday after the first day of the session adjourned until November 14. State minister MB Patil was seen holding meeting with the private doctors in the afternoon on Monday prior to a meeting with the chief minister in the eveing.
Medical services at private hospitals and clinics in Karnataka remained shut for the day after the doctors moved to hold protests against the KPME Bill which is allegedly contains the elements which adversely impact the private hospitals and doctors to function.
