11 crore spent on food at Suvarna Soudha

Belagavi: As per reports, Rs 91.5 lack has been spent for food expenses on a daily basis for around 25,000 people at the winter session of legislative assembly at Suvarna Soudha here.

Luxury meals which cost around Rs.400 are provided to the session attendees and staff every day. Around 10,000 persons are provided meals and breakfast, while 5,000 persons are given dinner at the expense of state exchequer.

According to the officials of the ministry, the total number of beneficiaries comprises of ministers, legislators, and their personal assistants, people who accompany them, officers, staff, police and journalists. However, there is no clear-cut answer from the officials to the query of accurate bifurcated figures of these people.

The legislative assembly will function for 10 days in this winter session. If one adds the days of preparation and two days of holidays and post-session work, the total period will be around 16 days. Accordingly, food needs to be provided to officials, staff and police during this period. It is estimated that more than Rs 11 crore will be spent on food alone during this session.
