MCC approves DBFOT model bus terminal at Pumpwell

Mangaluru: Design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) model stimulated proposal of Pumpwel bus terminal project which got approved by the MCC after three years on Tuesday.
Chettinad builders Pvt Ltd got approval by the council for the DBFOT model for a bus terminal. According to it, the project can be taken up on 7.23 acres now with the corporation.
According to DBFOT model submitted to the council, the terminal would easily occupy 198 busses to park on two floors along with multi-level car parking facility, a mall, shops and a theatre in the commercial complex said Mohammad Nazir, commissioner of the corporation.
DBFOT model which was approved by mayor Kavita Sanil on November 9 also received green signal by the council, now the proposal is presented before the special purpose vehicles (SPV) for approving projects for Mangaluru under smart city mission.
Commissioner said that SPV would meet on Wednesday and said that 33years would be given to the bidder who takes up the project and subsequently it would be handed over to the corporation.
The modern market-cum-commercial complex project at Kankanady also got approved by council to take up the estimated cost of 49.50 crores. The council agreed to send a proposal to the SPV smart city mission for approving the project under this mission. Commissioner said they have made the formalities pertaining to the government approvals faster.
