After Indira canteens, Indira clinic to be launched today

Bengaluru: After the successful launch of Indira Canteens in the city, the Congress government is launching three more projects in the name of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi – Indira Clinic, Indira Transport and Indira Bus Pass.
Addressing the press meet at Shanthinagar BMTC Head Office Transport Minister H M Revanna said in view of Indira Gandhi’s centenary the projects are named after her. He said Indira Gandhi had introduced several welfare projects and she was the inspiration for him to enter politics.
The schemes will be launched by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).
Indira Clinic will be inaugurated at Majestic at 11 am today.
Indira clinics will cater to the medical needs of BMTC staff and transit commuters.
Indira Transit Clinic is being set up in collaboration with BBMP.
Experienced doctors and nurses would be appointed at the clinic which would operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
First aid and emergency medical services would be provided for free. Based on the public response, the clinics will be extended to other TTMCs, he said.
Under the Indira Transport, the BMTC would extend bus services to women working in garment factories at subsidized rates. Indira Pass is a facility provided to women construction workers to travel by BMTC bus at subsidized rates.
