Mangaluru: Two young women had a lucky escape after the car in which they were travelling plunged into Phalguni river at Maravoor today.

The girls rescued are Nisha and Prateeksha. The girls had rented a car from Bajpe in order to pick one of the girl’s parents from Mangaluru.

While passing through the Maravoor Bridge, the girls decided to visit the Maravoor check dam. But while returning from the dam, the girl who was driving the car lost control and the vehicle plunged into the river.

However, the locals who watched the scene soon rescued the girls and the car was later pulled out from the waters using a crane.
