Bengaluru: Minister M B Patil said that CM Siddaramaiah is willing to discuss with Goa CM Manohar Parrikar to hold talks regarding the Mahadayi issue.
Earlier the BJP had claimed that it has convinced not to oppose diversion of Mahadayi river water to meet the drinking water needs of the Hubballi-Dharwad region. While the BJP claimed a political victory, the Congress and JD(S) dismissed the announcement as yet another political gimmick before the assembly polls.
Addressing the media Minister MB Patil said “As per protocol, the Goa Chief Minister should have written to his Karnataka counterpart Siddaramiah but instead he has conveyed his government’s willingness to hold talks to state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa,”
However CM Siddaramaiah is willing to meet Manohar Parrikar if he schedules for a meeting” he added.
Patil said the long-standing issue should be resolved in one meeting and that Goa should immediately release 7.56 TMCft of water to Karnataka for its immediate need. Then the state would take measures to ensure drinking water supply to the drought prone areas by next monsoon.
