Bengaluru: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa lashed out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of creating more tension in the Mahadayi water dispute while Goa CM expressed to resolve the issue.
Addressing the media BSY said it was “unprecedented” on the part of the Goa chief minister to agree for holdings talks with Karnataka on Mahadayi dispute.
“Siddaramaiah has now spoilt the atmosphere between Goa and Karnataka. In fact, he has done more damage than (former Congress chief) Sonia Gandhi,” Yeddyurappa said.
Sonia during an election rally in Goa during 2012 had said that not a single drop of water from Mahadayi will be provided to Karnataka he added.
It makes no difference whether Parrikar writes to me in my capacity as party president or the chief minister. But Siddaramaiah, instead of accepting the opportunity and getting the dispute resolved, played politics. He has done irreparable damage,” Yeddyurappa said.
The BJP has made sincere efforts to resolve the Mahadayi issue and would have succeeded, but for the Congress,” Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar said.
